I am a very structured, logical man. I cannot agree with something that does not make sense to me. In the thesaurus “faith” is described as confidence, trust, reliance, assurance, conviction and belief. I struggle to know how an evolutionist can logically have that kind of faith in what they believe.
Evolution itself is called the Theory of Evolution. A theory is not yet a proven fact. Yet it is so ingrained in our culture that people “believe” it as fact. The other interesting thing is when teachers attempt to teach the Theory of Creation along with the Theory of Evolution they are not allowed because of the “separation of church and state”. That does not make sense to me.
In my mind I have compared the “faith” it takes to be an evolutionist to a creationist. I believe it takes greater faith to be an evolutionist. Faith is described in the Bible as “To be sure of things we hope for, to be certain of things we cannot see”. Let me compare my thoughts on the two philosophies.
Creation-
The creationist has one simple statement to put their trust in. It is “In the beginning God created”. Everything else stems from that simple, yet amazing statement.
Evolution-
My problem with the Theory of Evolution is it is full of “holes” the evolutionist cannot find the answers for. Here are the major issues that I believe take more faith to believe than creation.
Going back to “In the beginning”, if not creation than what? Somehow “something” came out of “nothing”. That takes faith to believe.
This “something” somehow evolved from an inanimate object into a living thing. A one celled animal or something. That takes faith to believe.
This one celled animal duplicated itself. Then this one celled animal evolved into something other than itself. However all the “missing links” are missing. That takes faith to believe.
This is the real “show stopper” for me. This animal that reproduced by dividing itself evolved into male and female. Somehow the intricacies it takes for reproduction evolved in two animals at the same time in the same place and the natural drive to mate happened at the same time. My head cannot go there. To believe that takes greater faith than to simply believe “God created male and female”.
The great question to me is how so many brilliant people can look at the two options and believe in evolution. There is no logic in believing in a theory that is as full of holes as swiss cheese. It is much more logical to believe that a supernatural being created it all “In the beginning”.
These are only a few of the points that give me faith in the Creator God. Take the statement “In the beginning”. What was before “the beginning”? Where are the boundaries of the universe? If everything evolved from nothing, where did the “nothing” come from? If nothing is the void between things we call space, where did space come from? The questions about evolution are endless. Creation however, once accepted, leaves no questions.
Michael Card, a song writer I really enjoy, wrote the lyrics “sometimes the questions tell us more than the answers ever will”. I love that simple, yet deep truth. To me it is much more logical to believe “In the beginning God created”.
