I Draw Near to You

As children run to their Father’s voice, give me open ears to hear You call, that I may live by Your word, to be all I’m called to be.

These are lyrics are from a song Darlene Zschech- Hillsong sings. It goes on to say-

“I call on Your name, I need You my God, that I may live by Your word, Wholly devoted to You.”

There are lyrics of songs that speak deeply to my soul. They say things I feel but have trouble putting into words. The writers of this song express my desire well.

Thinking of Jesus and the little children helps me when I am thinking of my relationship with the Father. Jesus said, “I assure you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it” (Matt 10:13-15; Mark 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17). The words, “As children run to their fathers voice, give me open ears to hear You call, that I may live by Your word, to be all I’m called to be” is my deep desire.

I found this picture years ago and love the visual of a child walking with Jesus.

Their eyes meeting as He holds her hand is a beautiful picture of our walk with the Father. My pray echoes the words of the song, ““I call on Your name, I need You my God, that I may live by Your word, Wholly devoted to You.” Wholly devoted. Amen.
