You’ve Got A Friend

Converted from “You’ve Got A Friend” by James Taylor

Music has always talked deeply to my soul. In many secular songs I hear Jesus talking to me. If you drop a few words here and there and maybe add a phrase or two His voice becomes even more clear.

James Taylor song “You’ve Got a Friend” is one of those songs. Here is my paraphrase. You can find James Taylor on U Tube if you want to hear the original.

When you’re down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, oh, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of Me
And I will be right there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out My Name
And you know wherever you are
I am right there, my child
To comfort you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you’ve got to do is call
And I am right there, yeah, yeah, yeah
You’ve got a Friend.

If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together
And I’ll be knocking at your heart’s door

You just call out My Name
And you know wherever you are
I am right there, oh, yes, I will be
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall, yeah
All you’ve got to do is call
And I’ll be right there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a Friend?
When people can be so cold
They’ll hurt you and desert you
Well, they’ll take your soul if you let them
Oh, yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just call out My Name
And, you know, wherever you are
I am right there to see you again
Oh, don’t you know about
Winter, spring, summer or fall
Hey, now, all you’ve got to do is call
Your Lord will be there, yes I will
You’ve got a Friend.

You’ve got a Friend, yeah
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a Friend?
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a Friend?
Oh, yeah, yeah, you’ve got a Friend.
