This is from one of my devotions this morning. As you go about your day, think about what your anthem might be. What song do you hold in your heart and hum or sing to God and yourself?
If you have ever been to or witnessed a major sporting event with a large crowd of spectators, you have probably heard the sound of an anthem; a favorite in-house song by which the fans identify with their team, keeping spirits and hopes high.
It is usually a song of victory and is not reserved until the end of the match but is sung throughout the game by fans who are confident in their team and hopeful for a good outcome, often regardless of how the game, or even season, is going.
Oftentimes the songs we sing as God’s people are anthems too. Declarations full of hope and triumphal expectations. So, I ask what is your anthem?
